It's just normal practice with TalkTalk .... poor quality product and bad customer service. I had the same letters threatening me with debt recovery...their helpline said I owed them £4.21 and that they will be handing the debt on to their recovery service if I did not settle imediately. I informed the helpline guy that £4 to him may be a couple of days wages, but to me it meant very little ... he got very upset..!
I told him that I paid by direct debit and had done so for 7 years, so if he wants the money then take it. A month later I cancelled the DD and have never heard from them since other than the credit I received for £4.21............ I dont know, so dont ask ?
Next time you get the opportunity to switch providers have a look at the comparison sites for best broadband provider...o2 stand out, but they have their service supplied by
https://www.bethere.c...web/beportal/homepage I opted for BE after a tip from a friend ... I do I wish I had found them sooner. Cant really praise them enough. I have had a really quick fault free connection since I started (7 - 7.5mb average).
And the customer service is excellent..!
