Sorry is this a request to the best way of displaying the desktop? No background picture, minimum icons (put least-used shorcuts into a folder on the c drive...put link to folder on desktop.

To show desktop immediately above all other opened folders, right click on taskbar (bottom of screen)...select show the desktop.

see if it's somehow gone to "none" it can do i know mine has once

On my laptop the 'Window' key (little flag thing 2 to the left of space bar) automatically minimises open pages and shows desktop.

When I put a picture on my desktop with Picasa I hightlight the picture then go up to `Create` at the top of the page and click on it then click the `Display Picture on Desktop`...simple.
