was just wondering if when you scan something onto your computer - does it use any of the ink in the cartridge or is it a completely different proceedure to printing. thanks for any info

No, you only use printer ink if you print something out.
Just to add:a scanner works on the principle of transferring images digitally,or electronically,if you like. Or in plain language,it takes a 'photo' of the image.
