How do I switch off screen-saver as it switches off too soon when I`m reading a lengthy text? tia

Right cilck on your desktop, choose properties, screen saver and choose the time in there.
On windows xp right-click on an empty area of the desktop brings up a menu that includes Properties which give the Display Properties options (can also be run via Control Panel). The 3rd tab in that is for the screensaver.

Probably much the same for Vista or 7.
In Windows 7 right-click desktop and select 'personalize' screensaver options come up in following window. can also be accessed in Control Panel under 'Themes'
