Driver Magican will find the missing drivers but you have to pay to download and install them. If you are using Windows 7 it automatically updates them for you. The only other way is to go to the manufacturers web site and find the new one yourself.
windows update should not direct you towards a "driver cure" (otherwise known as "rip off") solution.
If it is, you are either, not using windows update, or your computer is infected with something
As galeck suggested, get your drivers from the manufacturers website, it's not the only "other" way it's the the correct way.

Chuck, Incidentally I just went onto "windows update" and put in "Driver updates" and that's what came up....Iv'e had Norton 2010 for 2 years and regularly use Malwarebytes and Spybot, but the computer still does a lot of background stuff (sometimes for several minutes) before I get on to a site, thats why I'm trying to update everything. The computers about 5 years old and uses Firefox. John
