burning to DVD disc.

Hi all.
I took some footage with my video camera recently and uploaded it to my Acer Aspire laptop to my videos, I then burned it to DVD disc but when i went to play it back on my DVD player it would not play saying this player cannot play this disc, if I put the disc back into the laptop it will play perfectly can someone please help and let me know what I am doing wrong.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Because you are probably playing an avi (dv codec) on your pc, and if you burn as a data disc and file, your DVD player will nt understand the format. Some dvd players will th .. (the type that play jpegs,mp3's, Windows media video, etc)
