Cannot open a web address from my e mails

I have a dell laptop with Microsoft outlook as my e mail program
When I receive an e mail which contains a website address, I cannot go to that address when I click on it as the message appears" operation cancelled due to settings on the computor. Contact administrator. " I have looked at settings and I am the admin and cannot see what to do. Any help. Thanks

What browser do you use?

It's often caused by a user uninstalling a web browser that was set to be the default browser, setting your current browser normally fixes the problem, if it's IE and the problem persists after resetting the default browser set all advanced options back to default.

Thanks. I'm using IE. I'm a bit thick. How do I set the default browser

in IE click tools > internet options click on the advanced tab and click the set as default button

the reset all advanced settings button is just below it if setting as default doesn't work.
