How do I make a -RW DVD usable with Roxio?

I've got a Sony -RW DVD 120min 4.7GB. I've used it before to do stuff. I am now trying to put some AVI files onto it but when I try to use Roxio to to this it will not see the disc. I've used Roxio to erase the disc using both the quick and full erase options but it makes no difference. What do I have to do to make it writeable again?

Any other discs work in your drive? Can you play a cd or dvd? Can you see the drive in my computer?

I did a DLA format or something and it seemed to work.
