I presume it is doing NOTHING on the button?
Try unplugging the main kettle adapter at the back of the power supply and check the plug fuse. Plug in again firmly and try the power button again.
If nothing and fuse ok, you may have a Power supply gone down (they usually go pop!) There 'is' a possibility (a small one) that is is a motherboard problem, but I would suspect the PS Unit. These are just a plug-in box with a few connections.
Take the side of case off and check the power supply rating(W) I would expect it to be a pretty standard ATX supply. Check the connectors YOU have connected .. look for one with same set. They have SATA or IDE type connections .. some power supplies have both.
Check this forum, which has pics ..

Plenty power supplies here ...

Hi Albags. I meant to say that when the power is switched on at the mains, there is a little green light on , on the back.No nothing happens on the button, but I have unpluged everything, cleaned what I can, and checked all wiring. Im starting to panic now.
Thanks anyway
Well do not panic for a start. Pretty simple work.
I would think its power supply tho.
You have choice of taking to local PC shop .. or looking yourself.
All of the info will be there .. on the old parts.
Is the green light on a component attached, or in/on the rear of the case?
No noises whatsoever on the button?
Try giving the power supply a sharp tap incase motor sticking.
Question Author
The green light is sticking out from inside on the back of pc, and no noise from from the fan or anything else, but I will try taping the power to see wot happens
Question Author
still nothing evan tapping the power cord, now I am worried.....HELP!!!!
The power supply .. give it a few sharp taps. Take the case side off to do it.
After this, it's take a chance on a power supply or take it to a PC shop.
You won't lose any data .. it's safe on HDD.
Question Author
thanks very much for all your help.
Quite easy to test that power supply tho!

Good luck with it. As I said, you have not lost data tho.
