there is no option to format the partition as FAT32 during the install

Good old Green (or black) screen DOS where is it now ;-(((
It won't install on FAT32. It will read external FAT32 .. thankfully.
Crazy idea.
Windows 7 runs EXFAT format by default so it wont use FAT32. To use this new format you will need in VISTA SP2 installed and if you wish to use it in XP you have to download a patch from Microsoft. This new format combines the simplicity of FAT32 with the speed of NTFS.
Eh ^ ??

Exfat is for removable drives only (and is essentially just an update of FAT32 to allow larger volumes/files) it's not possible to install windows7 on an EXfat partition because it firstly makes use of the hard links supported by NTFS but not by EXfat and, secondly, windows won't let you format a local drive as EXfat, only removable drives.
Yep .. What you on about Dalek? : )
