transfering files from mac to window xp

Hi, all, my daughter-in-law wants to transfer files, (mainly photo's) from her old Mac to her laptop which has xp pro installed. Having 'googled' this I'm completely baffled. Is there a simple way of doing it that a pc dinosaur ( me) can do or will it need a techie ? Any help appreciated. tia

I don't know if this is the correct way - but I stuck some photos from this Mac on to a memory stick and put it into my work lap top (with windows) and they transfered fine and work in a powerpoint presentation straight off.

a:email them to yourself from the Mac and open the email on the pc.
b:Bluetooth between computers or to phone.
c: burn a CD from one and open on t'other.

thanks EGTB and answerprancer, so copy files to mem.stick then having placed mem.stick in lap-top how do I get info to .my pictures? need a bit of guidence please.

How old is the mac? if it's osx based then a memory stick is pretty much guaranteed to work, plug it in on the mac and it will appear as a new drive on the desktop, drag the stuff to it, remove the stick, plug it into the windows computer and drag the files to where you want them.

A usb hard drive will be OK too as long as it's formatted in FAT32

CF' Mac is some 15 years old and has not been used for at least 10 years !

Plug your memory stick into the laptop, a box will probably appear in the middle of your screen giving you several choices including "open folder to view files" (do that) then you can then just click and drag the file containing the photos onto your desktop.
If not, go to My Computer then look under "Devices With Removable Storage" and a new device should have popped up (eg. "Removable disc F:") - just click it open then drag the folder containing the photos out onto your desktop.
NB, if the photo files are all "loose" you will need to create a new folder on your desktop then select them all and drag them into the new folder.

Thanks jeffmatt, only thing is that the transfers have to be done 'offline' ChuckFickens (love that handle) , sorry for delay in replying had to wait for d-i-l to find model, 'AppleMac' ibook Mac OSX,(PC-G3) can you explain the 'drag the stuff to the mem.stick' as neither of us has done this and I have to email instructions to d-i-l in Spain, sorry to be such a dinosaur ,( we still had log-tables and sliderules when I went to school !)

If your Mac is 15 years old, then I think you should first check if it actually HAS a USB port before anyone spends time describing how.

Insert pen drive into USB socket on Mac.
Icon will appear on desktop as a new drive.
Double-click the icon to open it as a folder.

Now open your Mac's hard drive and find the folder where the photos are. Open it.
Use the mouse to click and drag the photo icons from the Mac folder to the pendrive folder.
When done, close the pendrive folder and drag the pendrive icon to the trash to eject it.

Insert pendrive in PC
Open it as a folder to browse files.
Open your destination folder on the PC in a fresh window.
Click and drag the photos from the pendrive window to the PC window.
Wait for completion.

Job done UNLESS . . .
Do your photos all have a .jpg suffix?
