I have a Windows XP Home Edition computer. The other night, I needed space on my desktop to make room. I placed some things in the recycling bin as it doesn't delete the itmes, it stores them in there. But unfortunely, not this time, and I have lost loads of valuable files and folders, is there any possible way to get them back? They are valuable to me so please answer if you have an answer.

I've never done this so I don't know the finer details of it although I am 100% certain that it is possible - probably with a particular type of software.
When you delete a file from your computer, you don't actually delete that data from your hard drive - you only delete a reference to it and instruct a "table of contents" that, if necessary, that space can be used to write new data to.

Those files are still physically on your hard drive but you've deleted the normal way of finding them so you'll need a bit of software that either google or a techie in here can suggest.
doh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you try a system restore. It may be worth a try.

As peanut suggests - try a system restore. The facility should be in start...programmes....acessories...system tools.

Then just follow the instructions.

..or better still here is a free program to download...;-)
