numbers coming up when i press letters

hi can any body help ive bought my grandson a laptop for christmas but heas pressed somethink on the laptop and when he now goes to type any think the letters that has got numbers next to them the numbers are coming up instead of the letters does any one no how to get it back to letters hes driving me mad because he can not go on it many thanks carol

press the num lock key (you may need to press FN + num lock)
