I don't know if this is in the correct area :)

If you have a contract with a company that states for holidays are 20 days holiday and 8 bank holidays.

But the same contract also states will be paid at the rate of 1.5 once 37.5 hours have been worked during that week and 2x normal rate on bank holiday and public holidays.

Were does this mean I stand for the Royal Wedding do I get it off work or do they pay me 2x my normal rate. Or do I just work as normal for normal pay?

I don't see how we can answer this.
Is it a day you normally work?
Have you asked whether you'll be expected to work that day?
If you don't work and it's a day you would otherwise have worked then it counts a s a day's holiday
We can't answer this, it's up to the individual employer. My contract says the same as yours, 8 BH, but we are being given an EXTRA BH this year for the wedding. If people have to work, they will be given an extra day off in lieu. We don't get enhancements for working BHs.
They don't have to give you the day off for the Royal Wedding at all, so if you're lucky enough to get that day off with pay just say thank you no matter the rate - it will most likely be an extra days holiday which is what we are getting at work
.... paid at the normal days rate
I disagree - the contract says you will be paid double time on bank holidays. So whilst they are not obliged to offer it to you as additional holiday, if you do work it then you get double time. Or you book it off out of your holiday entitlement.
disagree with whom? If they are not obliged to offer the xtra day then they are entitled to use it as part of the holiday entitlement? I don't see how?
This question will no doubt be raised again next year with the two extra bank holidays for the Diamond Jubilee, although if history is any guide it will only be one extra bank holiday, as the last time this happened for the Golden Jubilee in 2002 the Spring Bank Holiday was moved from the last Monday in May to the first Monday in June and the first Tuesday added as an extra.
Pink kittens - I disagrees with your suggestion that it would be paid at normal rate if worked, as the contract clearly states double pay if working a bank holiday. However I agree if the poster wants to take that day off they will need to use annual leave.
