We all know that our internet traffic is being watched.

AB Ed is watching this post (Hi Ed!)

Shop on Amazon, or at an online store, and you get tailored offerings based on watching what you search for. The same for search engines.

It is alleged (careful here!!) that Governments routinely watch all internet traffic, scanning for sensitive words - you can imagine them.

Should this worry us?

Does it make you feel safer?

I have nothing to hide.
Apart from my admission of a penchant for shoplifting....
Hi!

I think you have to remember that many of these parties will only have a snapshot of you. I think it is fine that Amazon knows what you buy on Amazon - if it knows other things, that when you need to worry!

"Governments routinely watch all internet traffic...Should this worry us?"
Yes, probably.

"Does it make you feel safer?"
No, and apparently I am the one doing the watching!

That's good, salla, you're now on the MI something database of admitted shoplifters, do you think?
I hate it as soon as i log off i clear all history and cookies and then check under the Laptop.
It will make me think twice before using a webcam again.

I must say that i have never tried that, but I have to admit that I do like watching.......it is a big turn on, although making me very jealous.

Sorry, squad, no dogging on this thread, unless you want to post some juicy footage of your activities.

AB Ed would kill it though, to keep us safe from moral turpitude....
GCHQ and similar agencies around the world use software to analyse telephone, radio and internet traffic. They also ban the use of any encryption system that has not been registered with them together with the key. Scary stuff.
Question Author
Too true, McMouse - you have used a sensitive word - GC*Q - and your post will now be in a database. They've probably got me too.
I don`t mind being watched. I`m not doing anything very exciting anyway.
I would be less inclined to be comfortable belonging to something like Facebook and knowing that they own my profile and can do what they like with it.
Still makes me laugh the U2 released an album called how to dismantle an atomic bomb just to annoy all the government agencies that use software to check for key words an phrases on the internet :)

Facebook is probably the worst for data gathering - it's an octopus, getting its tentacles all through the internet. can you feel anything squirming out of your keyboard?
Question Author
Chuck - you're on the atomic bomb database now - oh heck, so am I!
They must know that many of us are into porkies just to confuse them. Or are they really as thick as we believe.
