I downloaded IE9 as an update..hated it so got rid...back to IE8...now everyday I keep getting a Microsoft Update telling me I have an IMPORTANT update.......IE9!!!!
Do I HAVE to have it???????
IE 8 was sort of ok.
IE 9 is a disaster for many.
Firefox is super-flexible and fast ... some of the add-ons are cracking.
Chrome is ok and also fast .. but I understand Flash content can be iffy at the moment?!
Just been told by Adobe their latest Flash doesn't work with IE9. Was hoping to get rid of all the, "you don't have Flash instaled", nonsense. So much for that idea.
albags, your advice has been good so far, and firefox is definitely quicker and easier than IE8, i was getting same message update for IE9 and clicked on hide and away it went.

Sure. Definitely mega-evil. They set Windows up to automatically keep their product up to date with the latest refinements and then ask you if you want the update and provide a simple and obvious way to decline it.
Not like the other browsers... oh wait, Firefox updates without even asking then takes you to their home page instead of the page you asked for.
In-Private browsing doesn't stop ads! it just stops any history being retained and it's also not the default behavior. It also will cause the useful functions of cookies working which some may find more of a pain that the adverts.
beso: "...oh wait, Firefox updates without even asking..."
But if you were to wait and check out the facts before posting another anti-Firefox rant then you would find that Firefox gives you the choice of whether you want automatic updates, or to be prompted for what to do when they are available, or to not check for updates at all.

Sorry. A typo. Should have been In-Private Filtering.

Yes exactly like Windows Updates which allows any update component to be rejected temporarily or permanently.
You will note that my comment was about AlBags rantish and misleading post about "damn Microsoft ... trying to take over the world".
