Problems with Irish Lotto
4 Answers
Last Saturday 16/7 I decided to have a go on the Irish Lottery for the very first time. I logged on and gave my details - name, address, email etc and gave myself a password. Chose to play two games for four weeks and paid by credit card. Within minutes I received an acknowledging email welcoming me to the site and saying they were processing my card and they would send me another email within 24 hrs confirming my numbers etc. I did not receive the second email and, as Mr BD has been ill this weekend, did not contact them by email until this Tuesday querying what was happening and asking for confirmation that my lottery numbers had been put on. I received an email back stating "Thank you for your query and someone from our customer care team will respond within 24 hrs." Mr BD was looking at his emails and he had received one from the Irish Lottery confirming my numbers and quoting my credit card details. The email also quoted my email address and was address to Mrs Joy .......
I immediate emailed again demanding to know where they had got my husbands details from and why were they contacting him. (Its a good job we have a great relationship or this could cause untold problems.) I advised them that I thought it was an invasion of privacy and demanded and immediate response. Mr BD also replied from his email address stating this was nothing to do with him and asking where they had got his details from. Mr BD has now had the standard 24 hours reply to his address but addressed to Mrs Joy.... and I have had nothing.
I have today sent an email stating that I am convinced they have breached the Data Protection Act and they are not fit to be traders. Can anyone suggest how this could have happened and what my next step should be?
Hope you can follow this. Joy

They seem to be living in the past when your husband was responsible for everything you did and you didn't do anything without your husband's permission. Personally I would cancel my subscription and do my betting somewhere else. I always do the National lottery and Euromillions online for four weeks at a time and have never had a problem (except I don't win anything). I'm lieing, I do win very small amounts, the most was £10.
