Firefox problem

I have just installed Firefox on a friend's computer. However it will not allow him to connect to the internet. He has good connection and IE connects OK. I thought that it might have something to do with his Norton security which I tried to uninstall but failed. Any ideas?

Is any reason to install Firefox you haven't said what OS you are using if IE is ok then stay with that.

Start, control panel, firewall tick the Off press okay. Reboot pc.
