Just a warning to others. I received an email the other day, supposidly from Paypal telling me that my payment for about $500 for a new laptop had been sent to this firm in US. I was immediately suspicious because the email went to an email address different to the one I use for Paypal.
I went into my Paypal account and there was no mention of the transaction, so I emailed the firm in the US and informed them. I received an email from them saying that the Paypal email did not originate from them, and under no circumstances should I click on any link.
I have now forwarded the scam email to Paypal.
Good for you.
You should ignore and delet ALL emails like this .. supposedly even from Paypal.
They ultimately would be after your details .. Paypal and/or Bank details.
Yes I had one too - about 3 weeks ago. The email looks completely genuine but I was suspicious and found out it was a scam and forwarded it to PayPal - apparently its happening more and more and they have no control over these foreign scams.......
The latest one I've had a few times tells me that the email address on my paypal account has been changed to something like [email protected] and that I should use their link to log in if I haven't authorised the change.
Of course the email is addressed "dear paypal customer" rather than identifying me by name so I know it's a fake and I don't click on any links,. I usually delete them but I did first forward one today to [email protected]
Another scam at the moment is emails about student loans asking you to click on a link and creenter some bank details. It looks pretty genuine and I can see quite a lot of students and parents falling for it
