ODT files

I have received an email with and odt file attachment.
When I try to open it I get the message 'This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel.'
I have never come across this before and would like some assistance please.
I am using Windows Vista.

It's a document file created in the OpenOffice suite of programs but you can open it with Word if you have that.

Up until I bought Word a month ago, I had used OpenOffice Writer to create many ODT files during the past few years. They open in Word without a problem.
