Router that needs a separate modem?
Have I got this wrong?
I'm not computer illiterate by any means but I had no idea you could buy a router that needs a separate modem. I found out the hard way by buying one and finding it doesn't work on its own.
I thought separate modems disapperared 10 years ago? My previous router and the one at work don't need one, you just plug the phone line into them, and there was absolutely no reason to think this was any different.

If you have one without a modem you'll need to buy a second box to connect your system to the outside world. Do you have the option to return & exchange first though ?

It is perfectly possible to use another ADSL router with SKY, all you need is the log on details...

It's strictly speaking against their terms and conditions but they don't enforce it, just don't expect any support from them with regards to the router.
However, if you are saying the router you purchased requires a separate modem it sounds like you purchased a cable router, not an ADSL one.
