Would gmail be a reasonably suitable secure and safe mail to have to use for your bank? If not can anyone suggest a more secure one for that use please? Many thanks.
I have never given my bank my email hence I don't get scam mails, but if I want to sign up for an esaver account with them I have to give them a mail address...I don't want to but would like to go with the account.
Many bank websites have their own secure message system so you can contact them using beware of any bank whose only communication with you on matters relating to the account(s) is using standard email.
The email may just be a way the can send you advertising info etc. usually you can opt of this check terms and conditions. Call the bank or go to local branch and ask why they require an email. if you really want the account with them and ask for their data protection policy.
Nationwide email me when my credit card statement is ready, and to announce new products etc. Any other correspondence is via secure messaging on the website.
I can't imagine any bank/building society being any different.
...wouldn't like to send anything of importance by email...as Fibonacci says....just for adverts etc. ....I bank online with ..er...a well known bank...;-) and do all my transactions using their secure service....
