If you don't have the Today Pane option at the rhs of the status bar at the bottom then in the View menu should be the same option.

If not then check if Lightning is up-to-date in the add-ons and has not been disabled when Thunderbird was updated.

Thanks for your help, but I'm having problems following your instructions.
(Lightning not available in Thunderbird 10.0.2, BTW and that is the version I have. It was updated a couple of days ago and the calendar was working this morning).
No Today Pane as you suggest nor is it in the View at top of screen.

Meantime, is there somewhere I can look uThanks for your help, but I'm having problems following your instructions.

Are you not going to update to Thunderbird 11.0 which was released a few days ago? The latest version of Lightning (1.3) is compatible with that.

If you are feeling a bit adventurous then you could try installing the add-on CheckCompatibility https://addons.mozill...atibility/?src=search which turns off the internal compatibility checking of add-on versions. It's what I use now that there is a new TB version every 6 weeks (most add-ons don't have cause any problems with a new version). A similar add-on exists for Firefox.

And if you want to back-up Thunderbird before you try anything, Mozback http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ is a good tool (also backs-up Firefox). It's ok for the latest version of FF and TB although on the link that page hasn't been updated to show later version numbers.

I will update but please explain how I find the right site.
I'm not sure that I understand which site you're after - the add-on is here https://addons.mozill...bird/addon/lightning/ but if you already have it then it simply needs to be enabled with the latest version of Thunderbird.

Sorry for the muddled response.

I wnet for http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ and now have the Today Pane back, but nothing I have tried can trigger any entries.
I used to get a grid with the days of every month displayed, more recently just the boxes in the main body of the screen- now even that is hidden.
Under View, Calendar is greyed out as is e.g., New Event in the Today Pane.

Probably a different woe, now I keep getting up a box 'Script error'.
I don't know about the script error but do you have an Event And Tasks menu? within that is the Calendar option that displays the calendar as a tab.
Question Author
Yes I do have an Events panel. It shows all of March with today's date highlighted but clicking L or Rt on it has no effect at all.
I can change to another month - same effect. It seems the calendar needs waking up somehow.

So on RH side I have Events and Tasks at top; below New Event - greyed out, but a yellow line in the box which does not respond; below Show Completed tasks (none).
I don't know what else to suggest. You might want to repost this as a new question (an unanswered question will get more attention than one with 10 replies) and hopefully someone else will come up with the answer you need.

Thanks for your help Bibblebub. I wil try your suggestion.
