Hyperlinks turned off!!

I have been using hyperlinks in Word and Excel to recall music/word/video files from my hard drive. I had a need to reload FireFox so uninstalled it and attempted to reload. Firstly, although the indications are that I have downloaded a new FireFox, nothing is appearing on my home page/taskpane etc. Also, although my hyperlinks are into files on my hard drive they will not work since the deletion of FireFox. All I now get is the following message: 'This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your systems administrator'. Can anyone help please? It was suggested that the security settings in IE9 (which I am using temporarily) may have a bearing. I also use W7.

An update on this - I have now successfully downloaded FireFox 13.0.1, and the problem described above has disappeared. It must have been something to do with me uninstalling FireFox. But what?

You uninstalled your default browser and didn't set another browser as the default, installing firefox again set it as the default browser.

Even though the files are on your hard drive it still requires a default browser to be set for any hyperlink to work.

Or if you do just make sure you set another browser as the default by going into control panel > default programs, clicking on any of the other browsers installed and then click set as default.
