My aunty has given me a freeview box for my room. It comes on and is connected right but there is no signal. It is just a black screen with a little red square in the corner. Can anyone help me sort this problem out?

Is there coverage in your area?  Are you trying to connect it to a portable TV as I don't think the arial on those is strong enough to pick up the signal.
Yes, Sammy is right about the ariel, you need a good roof ariel for FreeView signals to be picked up, unless you are within a mile of a transmitter.

Hi

Don't forget also that you will have to run the 'install' or 'tune' menu first. This will search and find the channels providing you have a decent ariel.

My mistake it is an On Digital box , does that make a difference?
An OnDigital box is effectively a Freeview box, it's all terrestrial digital telly. I'm still using an OnDigital box.

The little red square (or sometimes a circle depending on signal strength) means the signal isn't strong enough. You'll either need a rooftop aerial, a better rooftop aerial or a new house closer to the transmitter!
