Everytime I try to sign in to eBay, I am getting an IE Security Warning from AVG that Silverlight Configuration 'wants to open web conent using this program ....'. The highlighted option is 'don't allow', but both buttons in this box are frozen, and locked. The little circle which says the laptop is doing something is still turning but nothing happens. The only way to get past this is to close IE using Task Manager which achieves nothing in the short term. Every time I try to access eBay the same thing happens. AVG does acknowledge that the publisher is Microsoft, so I should be able to press either button and move on, but I can't. I can access my Amazon account without any problem. Any ideas please?

Yes.

1) Download and install Google Chrome and never go anywhere near IE again.

2) Download Microsoft Security Essentials, uninstall AVG, install Microsoft Security Essentials.
^^ He's right, y'know.

I suppose so - this reply is sent using Chrome, but I've paid for AVG and am reluctant to dump it!!

Sorry - should've said 'Thanks anyway'!! My mum would be cross about my lack of manners :)
"but I've paid for AVG and am reluctant to dump it!!"

Then keep using it until the current license expires and then dump it for MSE.
> I've paid for AVG

Why did you do that?
I fail to appreciate why anyone uses IE and paying for a virus protection programme is beyond my comprehension. Goggle Chrome or Firefox as a Browser and coupled to MSE along with free Malwarebytes is,in my humble opinion, all that home users require.

Ron.
i had exactly the same problem. You need to remove silverlght from your computer . Look through the installed programs and uninstall of all the silverlight programs there may be several of them . It may take a couple of attempts as silverlight has ways to get back on. I had to uninstall twice.
Worse than that, Ron, there are apparently people who still pay money to AOL and similar every month just the privilege of having an email address... :-)
Hi Mark ....You have mentioned E/mail addresses. Perhaps you will have a look at my posting, and offer some advice.
