How Much?

Does anyone in ABland know how much it costs to leave a router on per hour or per day? mrscook is driving me mad, she keeps turning it off,even when I am using the wireless connection

You should NEVER turn a router off. See my second post here:

Assuming a 5W power rating, that's 0.12kWh per day, at probably no more than 12p per kWh, so a router costs roughly 1.5p per day (or about 10p per week) to run.

I am not an expert on matters but a BT technician once told me that turning off the Router can cause more problems than if it is left-on permanently.
Furthermore, as has been indicated by Chris, the cost is minimal.

thank you Chris and alston, I have explained about the turning off, but, she sees a light and says it is costing too much to run. Times are tough but I think I might just manage the enormous cost of keeping it on.

Maybe woofgang has a point there.
Is she a bit obsessive when it comes to switching things off? I can't have anything with a light on, when I go to bed. Nothing to do with cost, but more of a very annoying OCD issue!!
I have to pull the (very heavy!) chest of drawers out a bit, just so I can get to the extension lead plug that's plugged in behind it. It's got a light and I'd never be able to sleep if I thought it was on.

So yeah, she could be doing it for cost... or she could be as weird as me :P
