I have made several attempts to download ie 10, & keep getting the message '' Set up can't continue because a more recent version of internet explorer is installed on your computer.'' I cannot find IE in control panel when attempting to uninstall. When I search for ie I get the message '' Windows shell common Dll has stopped working ''. Can anyone please suggest what the heck is going on ?. My system is Windows 7 & I am using Firefox at the moment.
When I click all programs on my computer I cannot see IE, also if I click search I cannot locate it which is why I asked the question what the heck is going on.
IE doesn't show up in Control Panel/All Control Panel Items/Program and Features for me either. Try exploring your main drive ('C' normally) as follows Computer/Main HDD (C:)/Program Files (x86)/Internet Explorer.
In that folder should be a file labelled "iexplore.exe", click on that to start IE. You can then click the Help menu on IE to find out what version you have.
you could try deleting all your pre-fetch and temp files in your windows folder ,do a restart try downloading ie again, poss not do a thing but worth a try,btw are you going to use ie or stick to firefox as i do

your 10.54 are you saying there is no folder listed as 'Internet Explorer'? The search should be for 'iexplore.exe' (without the quotes).
Only other thing I can think off atm is to try and pick up the download through Windows Update, make sure you check through the hidden updates just in case.
IE10 comes as an automatic update and Microsoft will include it in your updates over the next month or so. To check to see if you may have it check your Windows installed updates . If you have it you would have noticed that the first time you opened it a welcome screen would have appeared to explain it to you. IE10 will only work on Windows 7 and 8 IE9 will work with Vista and IE8 with XP.
