I've been a bit of a wombat! Rather than converting my digital photos to JPEG and then uploading them to website that prints them off, stupidly I attached 170 pics (1 mb each) to an email and sent it to the site. This has caused my email to lock up. It is still sitting in my outbox, and I cannot receive any emails. I have tried simply deleting it to no avail and also while it is offline.I have tried to bring the PC up in safe mode, to see if this would allow it to be deleted. I'm at a lost and hope one of you clever ABers can help.

Although I didn't have a 'Work Offline' option, I pulled the lead out of the back so I was offline. This still didn't allow me to delete the offending file.

The second scenario I was going to try but I didnt have the '' Outlook Data File..." option.

Now I'm stuck. What do you suggest?

Are you using Outlook or Outlook Express?

Try this method of opening a 'clean' version of Outlook into which you can import all of your old folders/files EXCEPT FOR the Outbox:

1.  On the Start menu, click Run.
2.  In the Open box, type Outlook.exe /cleanpst, and then click OK.

Then, import the old personal folder file to the new personal folder file:

1.  On the File menu, click Import and Export.
2.  Click Import from another program or file, and then click Next.
3.  Under Select the file type to import from, click Personal Folder File (.pst), and then click Next.
4.  Under File to Import, click Browse, locate the old .pst file that you want to import, and then click Next. If you know the file path, type it in the box.
5.  Under Select the folder to import from, click the folder that contains the data that you want to import.
6.  Click to select the Include Subfolders check box. Ensure you select all of your folders EXCEPT the Outbox.
7.  Click Import items into the current folder and then click Finish.

I am still having trouble and I appreciate your help so far.
I remove the connection to the internet (pull out the cable) as everytime Outlook fires up I think it attempts to send the email in the Outbox and everything locks up.
As an aside I have had a second hard drive installed (H drive) hence the location of the old .pst file
I run Outlook.exe /cleanpst
This prompts - Choose Profile. I leave it as Tony.Brett
I then click on Import & Export as your instructions suggest.
Then Import from another program or file.
Then click import from Personal Folder File (.pst)
Under 'file to import' I have located what I believe to be my old .pst file H:\Tony\Email\tony.brett.pst
I then click next where I have to highlight the folders I want to import.
This is where a message comes up saying 'the source
and destination folders for this operation cannot be the same'.
Here I am stuck!!!
Where do I rename the new .pst file? Also would it be possible to move everything across to the new file in one go (obviously, excluding the Outbox) or do I have to do it piecemeal?
Thanks
Tony

Although I don't think I changed anything, I have just logged on to my Outlook and noticed several emails received, dating back 27/6/05 (probably the day I created the problematic email). Unfortunately the Outbox is still there!!

If memory serves me correct you would need to import each folder piecemeal.

Checking through the procedure I think you will have more success with this change to the final step:

7.  Click Import items into the same folder in and select the destination where the folders are to be copied.
