Mail Client????????????
Every time I try to contact someone via their website I get a box saying it cannot perform the operation because the mail client is not properly installed. Would some clever person please tell me how I install this thing as I haven't a clue what they are talking about. Sorry for my ignorance, but would be most grateful for some help. Thank you.

When you click on the website link it tries to start this email client program so you can send the email.
But as more and more people do their email via the web in hotmail or googlemail or yahoo mail many of us dont have an email client program installed on our computer, so there is no program for the web site to start.
Often you can find the email address somewhere else on their web site, or look at the properties of the link and see what their email address is.
Then you can just send an email to them in the normal way with our normal email program, and just type in their email address, or copy and paste it from their web site.

As an example, see this IKEA site below.
I have no email client installed as I only use gmail for my email via a web site.
But if I click on the "Submit your email" link on the web site below I get the message "Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed"
See here

However if I RIGHT click on the "Submit your email" linkon the IKEA web site, and then choose Properties, I can see the email address is:
[email protected]
So try right clicking on the link on the web site YOU are interested in and select Properties and see if you can see what the email address is.
It will probably have "Mail To" in front of it which you can ignore.

Judging by your error message, your mail client has not been configured.
When you click on a contact link, your comp looks for a way to send that email. If you only use webmail (gmail, hotmail etc.)than Windows can not find that email client. There are however ways to configure your comp to use webmail as a default mail client, depending on the browser and search engine you use.
Some usefull information on how to go about that here
