Facebook Etiquette

An aquaintance of mine recently posted on her Fb page photos of friends taken in their home and without their permission. I was surprised and they were shocked, is this acceptable? do other people do this? It seems like a gross invasion of privacy to me, any comments?

I choose not to be on Facebook for reasons that my friends know and accept , even if they don't fully understand them. If somebody was to put me and my home on Facebook without my permission I would be mightily unchuffed.
If, however, your friend is on Facebook and posts her own photos regularly then I can understand more why the other person thought I would be ok.

hc, the aquaintance took photos of my friends with their consent in their home. They don't have a FB account and want nothing to do with it because they are fairly private in some ways. Had they understood that the aquaintance is a FB 'junkie' and that anyone on FB (burglars, stalkers, ex. lovers, perverts etc.) would have access to photos of them inside their home they would not have allowed the photos. Would you? If you had the ming vase that you had stolen from aunt Mable sitting on your mantlepiece perhaps the answer would be 'no' :-)

What a scary world you live in! No one can see my pics unless they are a friend.
We see strangers everyday...I don't see what the big deal is.

The trouble with facebook is that people's crap detectors are on different settings.
I love it because fellow fell walkers post great albums of their days in the hills. There are other friend's who seem to live their private lives on the thing, including complete drivel and exposing thing that would be better kept to themselves

I think what some people overlook when posting photo's on the internet whether that be on Facebook or similar is that you in effect lose complete control of who looks at and who does whatr with those photos.
I'll be honest here I cannot for the life of me understand what makes people want to share every single aspect of their days on Facebook with all and sundry.

If you let people take pictures of you or what you consider private, it's fair game, I'm afraid. I have a facebook page, but no-one really comes to my house as it is my sanctuary. Because of trying to escape abusive family, hubby and I have moved twice and do not advertise our whereabouts.....and that includes internet profiles. If your friends are offended, they should ask for the posts to be removed and not partake in such activities again. I don't, however, understand offence at such actions.....
I think it's a huge over reaction. I've got a public page on Facebook and I also have one just for close friends and family. My Mother's page is pretty public, her boyfriend's is strictly private because he's an actor, my Dad's is private for other reasons, most of the rest of my family have medium security settings but I don't think any of them would think it was a gross invasion of privacy if someone came to a party at their house and then some pics of that turned up on Facebook, that's just life and quite normal. What do people think is going to happen?
