Talktalk
anyone else use these internet providers, if so what are your thoughts.
I spent an hour trying to sort out a problem, couldn't log in, access e mail, nothing, the bloke tried to convince me it was me, the wireless router, not the server, bloody hopeless.

Talk Talk is talked about a lot as being just all talk.
If one has problems with the service from Talk Talk it materialises into the user doing a lot of talk and Talk Talk being somewhat speechless.
Get a good ISP and, purely my personal opinion, one cannot do any better than having BT. None of the other UK providers, unless they are on wireless connectivity, are able to survive without BT, who own and operate all the Telephone Exchanges in the UK.( Apart from Kingston upon Hull)

it's now working, but it's the fact the so called support people said the router needs changing, well it works fine now, the message kept coming up, which i kept on telling the bloke,, was server not found. He said it was the browser, so i should cancel firefox, and reinstall, which i didn't as it was the same with IE8. if it says server not found that is a connection problem.
I have been a Talk Talk customer for 4 years. My contract expired Nov 2012 but they did not tell me until I queried it. I had trouble with speed. complained and was fobbed off saying it was my computer that was at fault or there were too many other users on the line at the same time. Eventually an engineer came out, he checked the line, changed the router. advised the removal of some unused programmes and increased the speed to 9 (it had dropped to less than 2). However, after a fortnight I still have problems with speed, yesterday it varied between 2 and 7. Have not decided whether to stay with TalkTalk but I am not a happy bunny.
That is weird as I have been pulling my hair out all morning.. But I am not with talk talk I am with Tesco internet Kept saying navigation web page was cancelled. And I was also having trouble with internet explorer. But on the last strand of hair it is sorted . Don't ask we how just went into things lol. I have spent 6 hors off and on trying to sort it out.
what gets me is they insist it's your fault, not theirs and i had no way of testing this out, i did turn everything off, then rebooted the pc, nothing, it kept saying same thing, server not found. I told him that, but he said i needed a new router, no i don't, fer funks sake. marbles gone that's for sure
When I rang my tesco provider number it had changed after not needing them for a few years and I automatically got virgin .I said I was trying to get Tesco phone number. After explaining what was wrong silly man told me to look on line for the number. Snag that was my problem could not get on line. Where do they get these people from . I am no computer buff but I did rectify the problem myself and now that I am on line I have found the Tesco number.
Why not try BT ? They were in this internet lark before almost any other ISP.
I have been with them since 1994 and never had any problems. Don't forget, unless you are connected by cable, or you are using a dish, your telephone line is provided by BT. TalkTalk don't actually do anything !
If your telephone line goes faulty, BT will fix it for you quicker than anyone else, no matter what Talktalk and other loony tunes say.
So they might not be the cheapest but they offer great value. I am holiday in the far west of Cornwall at the moment and the Openreach vans are putting extra fast broadband all over the place.

I have had the same problem with my talktalk webmail for 2 days now. TalkTalk is fine until something goes wrong and you have to go to India where they waste your time. I never contact talktalk "help" anymore but just blunder myself out of the problems or wait till next day.
Blunder myself you ask? Today, logged into mail (avoiding signing in to the the phone advert) and got the titles and blank screen as per yesterday. I scrolled down the blank page to the cookies-policy little window, clicked and read what I already knew and closed it - low-and-behold up came the mail website page! Yesterday just kept closing the "webmail", re-booting etc. Then gave up and worked on my office documents. Before switching off, I checked mail without hope but wow about 9.00 p.m. mail was OK - until today -see earlier.
Whenever I see the dreaded cannot display page - anywhere - microsoft kindly pop-up, check and always say "connections OK" or actually cure it.
So it's talktalk's or other website's fault everytime
Thank you em10 - I really thought it was just my problem.
But I'll stick with talktalk - no point in changing ISP just to encounter different types of problems.
