Hotmail To Outlook Any Problems?

Is there any reason the change from Hotmail to Outlook email would cause problems?
A friend of mine says she is not receiving all her emails and can't send any.

Ive experienced no problems at all, I don't see what the fuss is all about to be honest, works perfectly for me.
