TESCO tech support have told me that hudls have poor low level wifi and that is reason i am getting very poor /dropping reception and i need to buy a extender /repeater.
I have used other devices on my wifi with no problems whatsoever
If what tesco are saying is true the the hudl as a portable device is surely not fit for the purpose ?

There's NO mention of poor wifi from Tesco ads, and I can only find 1 review that mentions poor wifi...you should ask for a refund.
I think I saw somewhere in a review that the Hudls wireless reception range was not as broad as other devices, but that in itself does not mean that it is being sold under false pretences.

It is a £100 tablet, with some good features, and some bad ones.Overall, most people take the view that its good features and most importantly its pricepoint, outweigh some of the bad points, like the limited reception range, or the permanent "T" in the bottom left corner that takes you to the Tesco hub if you accidentally touch it, or the lowish resolution camera in comparison to other devices.

I'm no techie but would have thought good wifi was a given.I would expect poor wifi on a tablet built decades ago!
Given my dealings with Tesco on the Hudl -getting refund replacement is going to take some fight!

I've read that the Tesco Hudl is not as good as others for the same price. The selling point of the Hudl is that it appeals to impulse buyers who get it with their toilet rolls and bags of spuds while doing their big shop of a Thursday night. Research online and you'll get better for less.
Going by the specs there is no reason at all why the Hudl should have poor wifi connectivity - it is up to date and dual band
Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) 802.11 a/b/g/n

Tesco insisted it was not faulty and said no point replacing it as it would have same problem. Well, I managed to get it changed and as I suspected Tesco are telling lies as new one is picking up my WiFi no probs.(so far)
Great. Glad you got it sorted

Thanks -trouble is Tesco will be easily fobbing off others with this lame excuse.
They only changed it because i inadvertedndly let battery go flat and it would not boot up in store for them to check wifi - so it was for this " fault" that they changed it
"Computeractive" magazine said a few weeks ago that, after testing the Hudl, they thought that it was unsatisfactory, and not a good buy (or words to that effect).
I have one and have no problem with it. I took it away with me last week and connected to every available wi fi without a problem (mainly in pubs)
