Please bear in mind that I am a computer illiterate, if you answer.
Recently, every time I open AnswerBank and wish to scroll down on a page, I have to wait for some time until that becomes possible. Various reasons appear at the bottom left of my screen, saying that we're (quote)
"Waiting for...
gravatar.com
google-analytics.com
delivery.platform.switchads
b.scorecardsearch"
and so forth.
Is there anything I can do about this? Is it my fault?
I'm barely literate myself but it sounds as if all the bits and pieces on an AB page are taking a long time to load. Does it happen with other websites or just this one?
If it's everywhere, chances are your computer is just getting old and slow. If it's just AB, then I don't know
one thing worth trying is to clear the browser cache; exactly how to do that depends on which browser you are using - Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome or whichever
I have found that using Firefox causes a lot of delays in opening Answerbank, I have started using Mozilla Seamonkey & I find it much better. If you wish to give it a try click on link below.
Thanks for responses. On other sites I do see the same - gravatar etc - headings, but they seem to whizz by compared with AB. All-in-all, however, it does appear to be a general difficulty rather than just an AB-related one.
That means it must wait until the resident technician - my wife! - gets back from work to take any of the suggested corrective actions.
Thanks again.
I use Firefox and I've been finding Google loads very slowly lately - but AB is fine. All I can think is it's not the site, it's not the computer, it's just some particular interaction between the two.
But it's certainly not the nut behind the wheel that's at fault...
The 'technician' I referred to above tells me she (quote) "defragged the HD and cleared the temporary files and Firefox cache" yesterday. I haven't a clue what she is talking about, but it seems to have worked! Thank you all again for your suggestions.
