AOL Favourite Places

Any other AOL users on here? This morning my 'My Favourite Places' was fine, but when I logged in about an hour ago, the window had changed. There were 3 or 4 folder icons with 'trees' below them with links to things like News and Sport, but most annoyingly, about 3/4 of the websites have been deleted. I have tried Quick Restore in Aol System Information and even done a Windows System Restore, but to no avail. I'm sure there must be a folder on the PC with all my favourites listed, but I can't find it. Anyone any ideas what I can do save trying to remember all the sites I had and putting them in manually?

Don't know if this will help, but here's what AOL recommends:

There are several possible causes for AOL� Favorite Places to be missing, so we have provided a number of solutions. After trying each solution, check to see if it resolved your issue. If it did not, please try the next solution listed.

A. RESTART THE AOL� SOFTWARE
Restarting the AOL� service may resolve your issue.


B. DETERMINE IF 'ONLY STORE MY FAVORITE PLACES ON MY COMPUTER' IS CHECKED.
1. Sign on to the AOL software, then go to AOL Keyword: Favorite Places Preferences.
2. Ensure the ONLY STORE MY FAVORITE PLACES ON MY COMPUTER checkbox is checked.

If it is checked, restore the affected screen name's Filing Cabinet from a backup copy.
1. On the AOL toolbar, click the SETTINGS icon, then click MAIL SETTINGS.
2. Click the MANAGE SAVED MAIL button, then click the RESTORE button.
3. Click the YES button.
4. Click the YES button.

If it is not checked, it means your Favorite Places are saved online. AOL appreciates your patience during times when popular features may temporarily be unavailable. The AOL� System is sometimes very busy and may experience temporary issues that can lead to delays or slow response.

NOTE: With AOL� 8.0 and higher versions, your Favorite Places are now stored on AOL� servers rather than on your computer. This allows you to access your Favorite Places from any location or computer that you use.
C. MANUALLY RESTORE THE FILING CABINET
If you have set your Favorite Places to be stored on your computer, you can manually restore the Filing Cabinet for the affected screen name.

1. Click the START button, then click SEARCH or FIND.
2. Click ALL FILES OR FOLDERS or FILES AND FOLDERS.
3. Type the screen name for which your Filing Cabinet is damaged or missing, then click the SEARCH NOW or FIND NOW button.
4. When the search is complete, click the NAME column heading to sort the results by name.
5. Select the appropriate screen name file with no extension.

NOTE: Make sure you do not select the screen name file with damaged or missing data. If you are not sure which file this is, look at the Date Modified column. The screen name file with the most recent date belongs to the copy of the AOL software that was most recently launched. If you last used the client with the damaged or missing Filing Cabinet, do not select this file.

6. On the toolbar, click EDIT, then click COPY.
7. Click the START button, click ALL PROGRAMS or PROGRAMS, click AMERICA ONLINE, then click AOL SYSTEM INFORMATION. If a Warning box appears, click the OK button.
8. Click the OPEN DATA FOLDER button.
9. Double-click the ORGANIZE folder.
10. Click EDIT, then click PASTE.
11. Click YES if prompted to confirm the file replacement.
