After inserting my dvd into my lap top I am not getting no sound, only the picture. The volume is turned on full. Anybody know why?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Ive tried sliding the sound bar up and down and it is full on 100! No noise whatsoever. All sound stopped a few hours ago for no apparent reason. I usually use my lap top with no attached speakers, but I have tried at connecting my speakers but still no success. And it is NOT on mute either!!! Thanks for your help anyway.
Ok here goes:
Go into control panel >>> device manager. Scroll down to sound (mine says, "sound, video and game controllers" ... I'm running Win 8 ).
Open it up by clicking on it - are there any yellow question marks next to any of the items?? Mine has 2 items named, "Intel(R) Display Audio" and "Realtek High Definition Audio". Right click on them and select "properties" to see if they're working properly and also select, "update driver software".
If this doesn't help, I'll try something else :)
