Firefox Glitch
12 Answers
Morning, yesterday and this morning Firefox has declined to connect me with Hotmail via the dropdown address from previous sites visited and displays the following:
This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect securely to www.hotmail.co.uk, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
What Should I Do?
If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.
It's the same dropdown I've always used and there are no issues connecting t Hotmail in any other way. All other previously visited sites work fine too.
Is it a hiccup that can be fixed somewhere in settings or is it Firefox going for world domination one PC at a time?
I have an old Dell running XP, SP3.
I'm off to work now so won't see any replies till about 9pm.
Thanks

I'm just getting a half loaded screen which doesn't respond to anything - sometimes all black other times bordered in a one of my screen saver colours - very odd - will use another browser in the meantime and wait and see what happens.
Douglas:
As SlackAlice has indicated, your PC might see the security certificate on the Hotmail site as having an invalid security certificate and, again as SA states, by far the most common cause is that the date is incorrectly set on your PC. (Hover your cursor over the clock, at the bottom right of your screen to see the date on your computer. If it's wrong, right-click on the clock and select 'Adjust Date/Time. If it keeps going wrong you'll need to replace the BIOS battery in your computer).
RSVP:
Make a note of any extensions that you're using with Firefox which you wish to keep (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions). Go to Help > Troubleshooting Information and click on 'Reset Firefox'. Then reinstall the extensions.

If you've got the Menu bar at the top of your screen, RSVP, 'Tools' is up there along with 'File'.'Edit', etc.
If not, you can add the Menu bar first (by right-clicking at the top of your screen and putting a tick against the relevant option). Alternatively you can get to 'Add-ons' via clicking on the three horizontal lines at the top right of your screen.

Thank you Hans. When I went into 'help' etc Firefox was updating from 32.0.3 to 33. I've restarted, checked again with Hotmail and it's still the same. I've still to do a reset as suggested by Buenchico but I'm more inclined to think that it might be a build up of coal dust from the boiler feeder of this old computer. :-)
Thanks for taking the time.
