Google Chrome

OMG My start up has become very sloooooow,it can take 3-4 minutes I have tried re-installing but it made no difference. Nothing new has been down loaded.Any ideas anyone?

short answer would be use some other browser - Firefox, IE, whatever. You can have as many as you like on your computer.

I am unable to visualise that a browser could be responsible for a slow start.

If you haven't got Malwarebytes then download the free edition and run a threat Scan and see if you have any Pups (Potentially Unwanted Programmes ) or 'nasties'.

Your question is ambiguous. Hans has interpreted your question as meaning your PC is now slow to boot; I thought it meant that it takes a long time for Chrome to load and start. Which is it?

I'm reading this as pc is slow to boot up, hence my question.

If it is that Google Chrome (the browser) is slow to start then quite simply try another browser like IE or Firefox. I have become quite disenchanted with Chrome and it's far too nosey for me.

I have a strange feeling that we are Not going to hear anything further from whistonian. He has been posting today in other threads, which I find strange when we are waiting for an up-date from him.

PC boots up OK it's when I click on my google chrome icon that it's very slow to bring up my google page. Malawarebyyes is on my MSI laptop

I feel the same as Slack Alice about Google Chrome being too invasive.

Get yourself what I think is the best of Browsers...Firefox. Download and then import your Bookmarks from Chrome.

Hans, I have taken your advise and d/loaded Firefox,all bookmarks etc have been imported from google.I have one problem when I try to gt my e-mails it says "the page isn't redirecting properly" probable cause is disabling or refusing to accept cookies. how do I correct this ?

Some help here about 'cookies'. Mine is set to 'remember History'.

If you are still having problems with your E/mails, please say what E/mail programme you are using.

Please advise how you get on......hopefully, successfully.

Hi SlackAlice,have checked cookies mine is also set at "remember history" but still having no look.Have also d/loaded the Gmail icon but that does not work either..Have also tried "use custom settings" to no avail.

Think we need someone who knows googlemail better than I do. I do have a gmail email addy, but I just go via their website to access it.

I do not use any remote desktop icon to access gmail.

Only other thing to consider are your AV settings. Look through the options to see if the AV program is blocking 'cookies'.

On opening the Privacy page in Options and seeing a box with 'Remember History' you must click the box for a 'drop-down' menu and then click 'Use Custom Settings for History'. A new page will be revealed on which you will need to ensure that it is set-up the way you require for accepting Cookies.

Are you able to get to your Email inbox by signing-in via Internet Explorer.? You should be able to do so and, if you can, there is a possibility that an appropriate icon can be placed onto your desktop.

Incidentally, have speeds improved for sites by using Firefox.?

Yes Hans,speed has improved.I have an icon on IE and can sign in to e-mail without problem.
