Iinternet Security
We were advised by a IT person that Malawarebytes was the best protection for a computer. We are with Norton at the moment but that costs about £40 approx. yearly renewal whereas Malawar cost £17. Also with our new IP believe we can get a deal with McFee cheap. Has anyone got any views on the best of the better one of the 3.

Many people don't notice this so instead of getting the free version they get a trial of the paid for version, which of course runs out.
I believe there is a way of converting the trial version back to the free version (try the malwarebytes icon on the task bar, maybe a right click)
As has been said, Malwarebytes should NOT be the only security you have on your PC.
Also note that the free version of Malwarebytes has to be run manually, if you don run it now and again it is doing you no good at all. Only the paid for version runs automatically.

janbee may think Kaspersky is "rubbish"....but she is in a minority. I use their Internet Security suite (free with my Barclays internet banking) and find it excellent. It has been voted top (third year running) by the testers of Computeractive magazine, and comes top...or near the top..in other independent tests.
@gingejbee..... Microsoft Security Essentials provides constant virus protection, also called on-access or resident protection, for free. This means that Microsoft Security Essentials can completely replace antivirus software from companies like McAfee and Norton that charge for their software and for yearly access to updates........Review 2014 :-

@Hans: now, if you'd only picked a review by independent people who have actually TESTED the efficacy of MSE...you'd know what I'm on about.
Your "reviewer" is a freebies expert and is simply regurgitating press release info.
Here's a review from this year by security experts who've tested MSE....page 2 is particularly interesting

I use Comodo free and Malwarebytes free and they cover all my concerns, so fair without failure.
The Malwarebytes free runs on demand and I do a scan about every 3 weeks. The Comodo runs all the time and updates daily.
I also use the W7 firewall which is permanently on.
