I have been playing around looking for different pictures to use as an avatar. I've gone into gravatar, followed the instructions, googled images and copied the url. When I paste it it comes up encrypted and the next page, where I should be able to crop, is just a black square. This happens no matter what image I choose. Am I doing something wrong?

Personally I'd just save the image to computer (desktop) and then just upload that way. It's a damn sight easier mate.

Did you select 'G'?
Psybbo: it shouldn't matter as on Gravatar you can have any rating to crop and upload - just not to use on AB.
I agree it may be easier to copy it somewhere where you can check it isn't encrypted, first.

Thanks Dizmo, you are a star. I shall certainly bear your advice in mind for the future. Thanks also to OG.

I'm still curious, though, as to why this image would not load from the URL but loaded no bother when I pasted it to my desktop.
Chances are it's a problem with Gratavar and how it uses 'permissions' for google images.
