Thanks Zacs, but none of those you suggest have the air mass temperature/colour effect. However, this one is not bad but I would have liked to see more or less exactly the sort of image shown in the BBC article

many of those styles of maps are restricted by the producers of the model data that create them, the BBC maps are the intellectual proerty of the Met Office and the BBC. Even the ones you see on your link to GFS are always at least 6 hours old data the ones ZM posted at least 12. Raw model data and data fields are expensive to produce so the producers don't make them free for a reason
