No I suppose not. I took my Hudl abroad and had free wifi the whole time from the hotel next door to the house we were renting. It was brill. I love my Hudl.

Incidentally, if Sandy's neighbour's WiFi is unsecured, might hackers be able to access anything connecting through it, including him?

If I only use wi-fi to access AB, and nothing else, in the evening does it matter if I'm using a neighbour's unsecured service?

I don't know enough about the Hudl, Sandy. If it has its own Firewall (software, part of the operating system or part of your chosen anti-virus product) then you should be okay.

If you don't have a Firewall but also do not have personal information, contact address books, banking software, photos etc then you have nothing to lose by someone ferreting around inside your computer. The most that could happen is they find a stored pаsswоrd, enabling them to hijack your AB account.

Why are you using BT if you are on VirginMedia?

Why don't you connect your hudl to your own connection?

Do not understand why you are connecting on an unsecured line when (presumably) your own broadband is protected.

It seems to jump from one to the other. I start off on VM and later notice the BT logo at the top of the screen.

It sounds like the device is opting for strongest signal rather than obeying user settings.

As I said, I don't know anything about the device but can guess that there must be a control panel equivalent (like in windows) where the internet connection properties are controlled.

Ring VM, describe the problem and see if they can assist with settings changes which will lock the Hudl to your secure router, even if it is not the strongest WiFi signal.
