Keeping Arrow Above "file" Highlighted

Am having a frustrating time with not being able to go forward or back with the arrows in the top left hand corner of the screen on lots of sites so am having to re enter details and return that way instead of like previously clicking on back button to return to previous page...however the arrow is lit for this site.
am using windows 8 on laptop and not changed anything.

Yes but works for most pages and must say it behaved yesterday so think maybe a glitch that day?
