Is there any way to stop those irritating messages which pop up in front of the video you are watching?

I had that trouble watching DP's link on Potters. I thought it was just me at my end. I have AD block activated... but still can't figure why that's creeping through.

Next question, how do I save that as my preference?

If (like me) you're just a 'casual' Youtube user, without an account, you can't block annotations all the time. However if you actually log into Youtube with an account this should theoretically work (although some people report that you need to repeat the action every so often:

Log into YouTube, go to YouTube settings, and under the Annotations and Activity heading, uncheck the "Show annotations, channel promotions and interactive cards on videos" box.

Thanks Chris, I got there in the end by typing in the URL.

They certainly don't make it easy to find the account settings.
