After resetting my laptop I downloaded what I thought was Free AVG,however it appears I have 6 days left of a free trial,Can one still get the free AVG?

Just let the trial run out. You should then be able to revert to the free version.

Will will have failed to notice and untick the offer of the free trial for the paid up version, which was on one of the screens you clicked through during installation.

Pre-acceptance ticks are immoral, but no harm done in this case. As Alice says, at the end simply revert.

After reading older posts i have decided to download Avast. Should I remove AVG before or after the download,TIA

If you'll be using Avast, Whistonian, here's a tip that might help you:

By default, every time Avast updates itself an annoying American woman's voice announces that fact. If you happen to watching a video, or listening to internet radio, on your computer at the time she can be REALLY, REALLY annoying!

So I suggest that you disable voice announcements. To do so, click on the Avast icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen. (It's a curly letter 'a' on a mustard-coloured background. You might need to go via 'Show hidden icons' to find it). Then click on Settings, followed by Sounds. Click to remove the tick and then on OK.

I have free AVG and never had a problem. I keep getting the little icon which asks me to upgrade but I just untick that box.

I have the latest free version of AVAST and you don't get that lady anymore when it updates itself.
