System Warning
I've just got this warning on my Desk Top pc you might be infected with adware / spyware The screen is 50% red and full of warnings
Call 0800 011 9543 immediately for assistance this call is prioritised and its 100% free It even quoted my IP address
The tab at the top of the screen which is locked indicates its a Windows Firewall Warning I use Mcafee security supplied by BT
I'm thinking now to just power down and up and hope it will power up ,But I'll wait awhile to see what Answerbank thinks

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.It's a big Scam. Telephoning the number will give you a free scan of your Computer and there will be dozens or even a hundred or more infections in your Computer, which perhaps, in reality, only has the Malware which has been introduced by the Scammers. You will then be offered the opportunity to have your Computer 'Cleaned-up' for a fee and your Bank account might then be cleaned-out; after you make 'on-line' payment.
If you haven't already got Malwarebytes then download the free edition and save the file to your downloads folder. Install from there and run a Scan; which might take as long as an half hour or more. Refuse all offers for the Premium edition and anything else on offer.

I powered off and on at the mains, but strangely when it came back on it said resuming windows I've never seen that before normally I have to put in my p/word
Anyway I cant delete this window or anything else all I get is a big dong sound ,but can still reach Mcfee window so I'm putting it through a full Mcfee scan .
I don't know Hans whether that's equal to a Malware scan but its the best I can do at the moment
I will let you know how I get on

As indicated above by Old_Geezer, There is a definite difference between Viruses (or Vira) and Malware.
I would still like to hear what the outcome is of your scanning with Malwarebytes because McAfee has in all probability disregarded what is Not a Virus but is Malware; which now needs to be removed.

It's my guess that you have ended-up with a big litter of Pups (Potentially Unwanted Programmes) which are Not viruses but are a nuisance to the efficient running of your Computer. Hopefully, Malwarebytes quarantined all of them and you have now clicked your mouse to remove them.
Things should now be back to normal (if such a position is possible with Computers) and, if you have any further problem, you will post again on matters.
Cheers....Hans.

I got this on my PC yesterday. This morning, I get a different phone number to call. 02034764538. If I understand this right, it is illegal in UK to put damaging code on any computer. I am inclined to take legal action in a small claims court. What I need is their address. Can anyone help? What about contacting the authorities? Any suggestions anyone? Also would help if several of us took that action.
