Officially, you can't. However if you use chrome you can install TamperMonkey and MediaFile Downloader, which rewrites the page to include a donwload button..

PiedPiper beat me to it as I was typing! Yes, that’s the best one to use. It adds a download button to YouTube and it does the conversion serverside in a couple of seconds.

Hi guys. The link you suggested seems to convert video files to mp3.What i want to do is save video files to my computer as videos
My operating system is windows xp and i use "normal" google as my browser
Google isn't a web browser! As I read it, either you're using (the totally horrid) Internet Explorer that came with your computer (with Google as your search engine) or you're using Chrome (which is made by Google).

Copyright restrictions mean that it's technically illegal to save Youtube videos onto your hard drive. So, to comply with their obligations to rights holders, Google (which owns Youtube) keeps changing things to try to block software which seeks to do just that. So anything you use is likely to stop working after a while (until the developer updates it to get round Youtube's restrictions).

The one piece of software that does seem to keep working though is Ant Video Downloader. However it only works with Firefox, so I suggest that you install Firefox onto your computer. (It's an excellent browser but you won't have to use it for anything other than Youtube if you don't want to; you can have as many browsers as you like on your computer):
https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/new/

Once you've got Firefox, use it to go here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/video-downloader-player/
and click the 'Add to Firefox' button.

You'll then acquire an extra button at the top right of your screen, which will start 'rolling' whenever you're on any page with video content (whether that be Youtube or any other site, such as DailyMotion). Simply clicking that button saves the video content to your hard drive. (There's a little downward-pointing arrow next to the new button that allows you to choose where to save your downloads to).
