A Scanning Problem.

I have a HP Photosmart 3 in 1 printer.

Today I needed to copy a four page A4 document.

I scanned the first two pages, they came out excellent, but when I had scanned page 3 it scanned it much larger, thus failing to copy all of the document.

I then re-scanned it and this time it came out correctly, I then scanned page 4 and the same happened, but I needed to repeat this scanning four times more before this one came out correctly.

Can anyone please explain why this could be happening?
