How Many Entries Do Radio Text Competitions Get ?

Absolute Radio have been running a lot of text competitions recently, with texts costing £1.50 to enter. I know it will depend on what there is to win, but how many entries do these sort of competitions attract ?

Enough to cover the cost of the prize and make a substantial profit as well !
I would class them as a lottery rather than a competition.

Although I would agree they must get enough to make it worth their while I did read once that they sometimes get a lot less than needed because everyone assumes they won't win so don't bother.

Last year they ran a 'pay your bills' competition, at £1.50 per text, offering a £1000 prize:
